How Alyson Hannigan Paid Tribute to Her How I Met Your Mother Days on Dancing with the Stars

Ahead of Alyson Hannigan’s performance at Dancing with the stars Tuesday, How I Met Your Mother alum gave a touching bow to her time on the hit sitcom.

Sharing photos of the year’s most memorable rehearsals with pro partner Sasha Farber on Instagram, the 49-year-old actress paid tribute to her run of nine seasons on CHEMISTRY dancing with a yellow umbrella like the one often seen by leading man Ted Mosby in his search for love.

“If you know, you know💛☂️💛,” Hannigan captioned the post.

Josh Radnor, who played Ted, commented along CHEMISTRY fans text Hannigan, “I know!”

But the dance wasn’t just nostalgic for one of her signature roles, Hannigan also used the dance to celebrate her 20th anniversary with husband Alexis Denisof.

“Tonight we celebrate my most memorable year,” she wrote on Instagram alongside a picture of herself holding a bouquet of red roses. “2003: the year I married my husband and our life’s happiness began. 💍 #MostMemorableYear #DWTS.”

After her performance on Tuesday, Hannigan told PEOPLE how grateful she is to her husband for taking care of their children and the household chores while she works out each week.

“He got a lot of support – and I’m not surprised, but I’m super grateful,” she explained. “He’s that guy. He was always a hands-on dad and sacrificed so much for us. But just support and in every way, I’m at home, but I’m lying on the couch, like, ugh. And he is everything. He cooks, [he] brings me ice. He is everything. It’s great.”

Hannigan also talked about what it means to finally reach that big marital milestone.

“It really feels like a success. I’m so proud of us,” she shared. “The fact that we’re so happy now and I love him even more than I did then is so great.”

“We are so, so happy,” she added. – We found each other.

Hannigan and Denisof met on set Buffy the Vampire Slayer in 1999 and became engaged in 2001. After their 2003 wedding at the Two Bunch Palms resort near Palm Springs, California, they had two daughters, Satyana Marie and Keeva Jane.
