Jennifer Lopez Satin The costar reveals how her husband Ben Affleck helped her prepare for the role.
In the new Netflix film, Lopez, 54, plays data analyst Atlas Shepherd, whose deep distrust of artificial intelligence is tested after going on a mission to capture rogue robots, according to the description for the Netflix film.
Her co-star, Sterling K. Brown, explained why Affleck, 51, would read lines from Smith, her AI companion, voiced by Gregory James Cohan, to help Lopez flesh out her character.

“Every once in a while, Ben would read the lyrics for Smith. And I think the newlyweds, still very much in love, just wanted to hear his voice,” Brown, 48, said in an interview with Entertainment Weekly published on Friday, May 24. “And so sometimes, the reactions you got from her were because she was listening to her husband’s voice.”
According to the character summary shared by Tudum, Smith is only present as a voice inside the Atlas suit.
“As the film progresses, the initially combative duo learn to work with each other, despite Atlas’ many reservations,” the synopsis adds.
It’s no surprise that Lopez wanted to rehearse her lines with a familiar voice, as director Brad Peyton told Tudum, “The heart Satin actually about trust and how hard it is to trust people.”

“Satin it is told through the lens of a woman who learns to believe after going through a life-changing trauma. It’s a reminder of how we need to have deep, meaningful relationships in our lives, in one way, shape or form,” Payton said. “That you can’t do it all by yourself; you have to decide to trust people at a certain point and let them in.”
Like Lopez, Affleck has also been busy working on a film project, Accountant 2which is why he missed attending Lopez’s film premiere in Los Angeles on Monday, May 20.
His absence from the premiere also comes amid reports that the couple are living apart and their marriage is strained.
Lopez was asked about her marriage to Affleck during the promotion Satin in Mexico City on Wednesday, May 22, prompting her to tell a reporter, “You know better than that.”

Simu Liu, another of her colleagues, also came to her defense, telling a reporter: “Come on, don’t come in with that energy, please.
“If I could just end on one thing, Jen is the producer of this movie, and the reason why I’m here and why Sterling [K. Brown] was in this wonderful movie because Jen cares,” continued Liu, 35. “And Jen cares about things like representation and diversity, and she’s the boss.”
