How Jason Kelce Ended Up Washing His Cybertruck Shirtless and Peeing in a Bush for Beer Commercial: ‘I’m a Big Idea Guy’

Shirtless Jason Kelce hits again!

The former Philadelphia Eagles center, 36, opened up to brother Travis Kelce, 34, about how his new Garage Beer car wash commercial came to be during a recent episode of their New heights podcast.

“Least shocking news ever, Jason came up with the idea for the latest garage beer ad,” the podcast shared on X (formerly Twitter) in a video breaking down the ad’s origin story.

The ad, in which he and former Eagles teammate Beau Allen wash Jason’s Cybertruck and drink Garage Beer to make the job more enjoyable, was released on September 9.

“If you were wondering what Jason has been up to during his new retirement phase, he’s been shooting his own commercials for Garage Beer,” Travis said. “However, the last one was him and Beau Allen washing some cars, just making sure the car stayed clean. And enjoying a nice garage while they were doing it.”

The Kansas City Chiefs tight end then asked his brother who was behind the commercial’s story.

“I’ve always loved beer commercials,” Jason began. “I’ve always loved the old school, like the Budweiser commercials or The Most Interesting Man Alive. I feel like beer commercials always put themselves iconic in your brain.”

And this one certainly will. After Jason and Allen decide to crack open a cold one, they clean the Cybertruck in shorts, playfully wrestle with soap and hoses, and dance to ZZ Top’s “Gimme All Your Lovin’.” ”

Jason added that when he partnered with Garage, he wanted to make fun commercials, especially now that he has the time in the midst of retirement.

“Creatively, it’s just fun to think of different ideas,” he said. “I’m a big idea guy, not a big idea guy. Luckily, we have a bunch of people working with Garage Beer who know how to bring those ideas to life.”

Travis asked if Allen was always the costar he had in mind “when you thought about washing the car in shorts.” Jason considered other Eagles players — Landon Dickerson, Lane Johnson and Jordan Mailata — as his fellow car washer, but chose Allen, 32, while in town.

Jason also noticed that Cybertrucks can short out when going through car washes, so he was a little nervous. However, the filming of the commercial went smoothly, and the football stars showed off their car washing skills without any problems.

Although Jason does not play in the NFL today, he takes an active role in the 2024-2025 season appearing in Monday Night Football broadcasts as a commentator.

He made his first appearance on September 9 – and forgot his bag in said Cybertruck. He had to pick up the shirt on his way to the ESPN broadcast at Levi’s Stadium in Santa Clara, California.

Jason exclusively told PEOPLE in June of his decision to retire from the NFL after 13 years with the Eagles. He had been thinking about retirement for several years and found that it was time for the 2023-2024 season.

“After going away this year, it was more and more obvious after the season that my body was telling me to stop,” the Monday Night Football broadcaster said at the time. “I don’t think I could play another season the way I want to and the way it’s going to make me happy.”
