How many ways can you find to answer it? This is the maths riddle that has people scratching their heads

YOU might not have loved maths at school, but the chances are you won’t be able to stop staring at this question.

At first it looks pretty easy – all you need to do is find a way to solve the equation by moving just one stick. Take a look, you’ll probably get the answer super fast.

That is you’ll get ONE of the answers super fast anyway.

The sneaky thing about this puzzle is that there are quite a few ways to solve it.

So go on, which did you plump for?

The most popular seems to be by turning the six into a zero by moving the green stick in the middle.

That leaves you with the equation 0 + 4 = 4, which is obviously right.

But you can also solve it by transforming the six into an eight – can you see how?

Yep, you pinch the yellow stick on the plus symbol and add it to  the six.

That leaves you with the sum 8 – 4 = 4.

However, the super smart out there could have gone with a pretty radical way to solve it.

You need to transform the six into a five, which is easy to do by moving the blue stick.

Pop it on the top of the four at the end, and you’re left with 5 + 4 = 9.

Now, there is one other way to solve the problem… but it won’t go down well with everyone.

It’s a bit of a cheat, but here goes anyway.

Take the yellow stick from the plus to make it into a minus, then add it below the red stick on the four.

That makes the four look like an H… or 1 – 1, depending on how you look at it.

So you’ll be left with 6 – 1 – 1 = 4, which is obviously right.
