Raphy Pina, a music producer, was sentenced to three years in prison on May 24, 2022. He was fined $150,000 for illegal gun possession. After Judge Francisco A. Besosa denied a bail appeal, Pina was ordered to surrender voluntarily to a United States marshal by 3 p.m. Tuesday. He will serve his sentence in Florida and will be released on supervised release for three years upon completion of his sentence.
The sentence comes five months after a jury convicted Pino of possession of an automatic weapon and possession of a weapon. Given his 2016 criminal conviction and the potential harm caused by the automatic firearm, federal prosecutors initially sought a prison term of 46 to 50 months. Raphy’s attorney issued a sentencing brief on May 20, seeking only probation as an appropriate sentence.

Raphy’s girlfriend Natasha, his three children and Daddy Yankee were present at the sentencing. He said that the loss of freedom is the most terrible circumstance that a person can face. He said that he wants to return to his family and continue to be a parent, while at the same time guiding them through various stages of life.
