The Last of Us co-creator Craig Mazin explained how the show almost changed the final moments of the game. in a recent interview GQMazin reveals Ali Abbasi, director the last survivor‘ ending, which is actually a slight change to the game’s ending. While much of the ending will stay the same, additional scenes will make the aftermath of Joel’s lie more apparent and overall feel more upbeat. Check out Mazin’s full review below:
“Our director, Ali Abbasi, played with this variation. He had the idea of playing this version a bit longer, a little sadder, and Ali said, ‘Okay,’ and she turned away. Joel Taking care of her We saw the two of them walking towards Jackson, not really together but apart.It lasted and then disappeared.There was something beautiful about that.
People are asking ‘what should we do? And that meta discussion, are people playing the game more annoyed because they’re not getting it the way they’re supposed to, or are they more upset because they’re just getting what they’ve got? And then how will others feel?
Finally, there’s something very specific about ending up with a close-up of Ellie. Not sure what will happen next. Don’t know what she’s doing. Does she leave you, does she go with you, how does she feel? That moment was permanently suspended. “
Why is The Last Of Us ending scene so successful
As Mazin described above, the ending is the last survivor Works well because it keeps things a bit more open. It’s bittersweet that both Joel and Ellie are still alive, but it’s clear that there’s a lot of conflict going on. In both the game and the show, it is clearly implied that Ellie knows Joel is cheating on her, and the real question is what will she do with this knowledge and how will the disclosure affect her. How about their relationship.
HBO’s Last Moments the last survivor It doesn’t have too much dialogue but subtle performances by Pascal as Joel and Ramsay as Ellie. For both characters, there’s so much going on beneath the surface of this scene that it’s only suitable for talented actors with lots of chemistry. Thank goodness Pascal and Ramsey, just like the previous episodes the last survivor It’s clear that they’re the perfect on-screen duo, able to bring nuance and complexity to the words on the page.
While this ending could be seen as bleak if the future of the film is uncertain, it has been confirmed that the last survivor will return for season 2, maybe even season 3. With Joel and Ellie confirmed to return, the ending’s openness serves as the sole bridge to the future, closing a story. chapter in their relationship while also opening the door to a sequel. the last survivor Season 2 will bring but the consequences for Joel’s lies are clearly here to stay.
