How ‘The Masked Singer’ Works: All About Fox’s Celebrity Singing Competition

The audience and host Nick Cannon are joined by four celebrity panelists – Robin Thicke, Jenny McCarthy, Nicole Scherzinger and Ken Jeong – who do their best to correctly identify each artist based on little clues they receive during each episode.

Although celebrities can use their real voices while singing, during pre-recorded interview clips (which contain clues about their identity), their voices are distorted.

At the end of each episode, the identity of the losing celebrity is finally revealed.

Its inaugural season ran for 10 episodes and saw 12 masked celebrities face off: La Toya Jackson as the Alien, Tori Spelling as the Unicorn, Joey Fatone as the Rabbit, Gladys Knight as the Bee, Margaret Cho as the Poodle, Donny Osmond as the Peacock, Rumer Willis as the Lion, Ricki Lake as the Raven, Terry Bradshaw as the Deer, Antonio Brown as the Hippo, Tommy Chong as the Pineapple and T-Pain as the Monster.

Rapper T-Pain won the first season of the show, Osmond was second and Knight was third.
