How to Determine What Type of Plane You’re Flying in on Your Next Trip

For air travelers, knowing what type of aircraft you’re flying can provide peace of mind for many reasons.

Sometimes a passenger may want to determine the aircraft seat configuration or perhaps determine the size of the overhead compartments and under-seat storage to plan ahead which carry-on bag to use.

In addition to directly checking where the flight is booked, fliers can also use various other websites to see what type of aircraft they will be on during their trip.

One website travelers often use is Flight Aware, an online tool that offers “real-time, historical and predictive flight tracking data,” according to its website.

Flight Aware’s website adds that it is the world’s largest flight tracking platform as of 2019.

On the website, users can enter their flight information and, after selecting their flight, they can look on the right side of the page for “Flight Details.”

There, under a section called “Aircraft Details”, a block called “Aircraft Information” will have an area marked with the “Aircraft Type” information that flyers are looking for.
