Huge BBC TV star, 64, left with head injuries after being struck by electric bike while crossing the road

A POPULAR BBC star has suffered a nasty head injury after being hit by an electric bike.

Ian Hislop, 64, was seen in London with his wife last night with a large bandage on the back of his head after the crash.

Hislop was reportedly crossing the road before he was hit by a speeding bike on Wednesday afternoon.

As Have I Got News For You was taken to the doctor before being patched up and is now said to be doing well.

A spokesman for Hislop’s Private Eye magazine confirmed the accident, saying he was “crossed by an electric bike while crossing the road yesterday afternoon”.

The long-serving BBC star was seen wearing a white armband later at an event in the capital.

Hislop was dressed in a smart black tuxedo with a bow tie as he walked past the crowd with his wife Victoria.

It comes just months after the big TV star was allegedly involved in a serious alleged shooting in London.

The driver of the black cab told police he was on Dean Street when the back window of his car was smashed.

He believed that the bullet was fired through the glass, causing it to shatter.

Hislop was sitting in the back seat of the taxi during this time.

Officers investigating the claims are yet to confirm the incident and say “no evidence has been found” that a gun was fired.

Officers were examining CCTV and were unaware of a motive, the source said.

Hislop edited Private Eye from 1986, known for its satirical articles and investigations.

He is also a regular and long-standing panelist on the BBC comedy quiz Have I Got News for You.

Ian married writer Victoria Hamson, now Hislop, on 16 April 1988 and the couple have two children in their 20s, Emily and William.
