I Only Have One Closet, so I Turned a Wall Into a Coat Rack with This $17 Amazon Find

Living in a studio apartment has taught me many space-saving tricks.

I moved into a small apartment with one closet last July. At first, the storage space seemed just right – the chest of drawers, under-bed drawers and a half-sized wardrobe were enough to fit my selection of dresses and sandals. As the weather got colder, a new problem arose: coat storage.

With a closet filled to the brim with clothes and accessories, I ran to Amazon for a quick and easy storage solution and stumbled across the best-selling Dseap wall coat rack. The small but mighty unit has been such a useful space saver since it houses all my coats, some purses, scarves and other items that have no place to call home in my home. And now you can find it on sale.

The unit is made of solid stainless steel and aluminum. It has five three-pronged hooks, each of which can hold several objects at once. According to the brand, the hooks have a weight capacity of 11 pounds, which seems about right to me since I store my heavy wool coats, thick puffers, and purses on them.

You can see my unit in use in the picture below, holding four coats and three purses next to my front door. I’ll admit it: it’s usually a lot busier, but I dropped some of my coats at the dry cleaners during this brief respite from freezing temperatures in New York. It’s usually invisible under said assortment of outerwear — at least it gets the job done!

I’m a connoisseur of comfort and this is the plush bathrobe I recommend to my coldest friends

The best part? The unit came with all the equipment needed for self-installation: wall anchors, screws and screw covers. The package came with two different types of wall plugs, so I looked for the best option for drywall and got to work.

The not so great part is that the package didn’t come with written instructions, but I just went back to the Amazon listing to read what to do. After reading the online guide, marking my wall for the desired placement, and watching a few YouTube tutorials to brag, I had the hooks up in about five minutes.

The stand is pleasantly sturdy, because it didn’t cause me any problems during autumn and winter. Of course, hooks aren’t just reserved for coats and bags — plenty of five-star reviewers have reported using the unit to hang towels, backpacks, and even excess electrical cords.

You can get one or two packs of Dseap wall coat hangers in seven colors including antique copper (my personal choice), black and chrome. Buy it while it’s on sale now.
