I was on Place In The Sun and bought my dream Spanish home for £45k… I have one regret & need to warn others of pitfalls

Sun, sea and sand – it’s the lifestyle we all dream of, but there are only a few of us brave enough to go.

Jacqui Lockhart from Scotland went to Almoreda on Costa Blanc shortly after the broadcast of her episode of the place in the sun in December 2017.

Originally looking for a holiday home, Jacqui traveled to Spain in search of his dream escape with the help of Danni Menzies guide.

After looking at several apartments, Jacqui fell on an apartment in Almored with a utility pool and a roof that cost only £ 45,000.

Her apartment began as a holiday home, but after visiting in the first year 10 times, Jacqui dived and decided to make his permanent home.

Not to be too morbid, but I was in the waiting room of God. I did nothing and things went by me.

In an interview with Sun Travel about her move to Sunny Spain – on the eve of returning to the Sun: What happened the following broadcast on Monday, March 24 – Jacqui (64) says: “I was a lot of guts to move.

“Let’s say” Okay, I’m not going back to the UK “, it took a lot of courage. But it was so good, I absolutely love him.”

Before his shift, Jacqui lived in a small town near Edinburg, where she admitted that she did not live a life to the most part.

Jacqui says, “I don’t be too morbid, but I was in the waiting room of God.

“I didn’t do anything and things went past me.

“I would say that move had a huge impact on my health, I am far more outdoors than I was in Scotland.

“Better time makes life easier – less painful, there is less pain.

“I ride a bike three times a week with my friends, we’ll get out and have coffee, and we’ll get down to the beach.”

Another of Jacqui’s latest hobbies is sailing, which he likes to do with her partner Peter O’Reilly, a colleague Scott whom she met in Spain.

Jacqui tells us, “It’s actually from all over the water in Scotland – it’s strange, he literally lived around the corner of me.

“I never knew him from Scotland, but we met through mutual friends in Spain.”

Return to the UK, Jacqui had a “two, two down” house, which he still owns and returns when he returns to the UK for trips.

She says, “I don’t miss anything about Scotland and I won’t go back.

“But I still visit, usually in July or August, because it becomes too hot here and then Christmas, so I see my two -year -old granddaughter Henrietta.

“That’s the only thing I feel guilty about, I wonder if I should be more part of her life.

“But the agile side of the coin is that when she is older, she will go out and spend the Easter holidays with me.”

Jacqui now lives a much more active lifestyle than moving to Spain: channel 4

Jacqui was fortunate to be without a mortgage on both of his real estate after working in banking for many years.

She told us, “It took me a long time to do it, to tell you – it didn’t happen overnight, I worked for many years to do it.”

It’s been only six years since Jacqui debuted her in the sun, but so much has changed and she really started progress.

She even brushed in Spanish and volunteer to help her improve.

She added, “I am going to Spanish classes every week, and my Spanish friends help me in that.

“I volunteer once a week in a charity that helps me pick up some words. I can lead a very, very basic conversation – I mostly order a drink.”

He says that one of the greatest life of life abroad is that going out on meals and drinks manages to be much cheaper.

Jacqui said, “I love going out to eat, which is so cheaper than in the UK, you can get a glass of wine for 1.50 euros.

“You can get a meal with three meals and coffee for about 10 euros.”

While Jacqui boldly bites the bullet and loves her new life abroad, she listens to some warnings for everyone who hopes to do so.

I don’t miss anything about Scotland and I won’t go back.

She explained, “I’m happy because I have plan B, I will never sell my house in Scotland.

“But I know a lot of people who have completely sold themselves here, moved the lock, stocks and barrels and now they enter their touch and cannot come back because they cannot afford it.

“I also know some people who came just before the Coid wanted to open the bar and then as they started, they had to close because Spain entered the lock.

“They lost so much money and used all their savings for life and had to return to the UK and rent what such a shame was.

“My second advice would be to rent first if you like the area. Thanks to Brexit, the British can only rent in Spain for three months at once, but do it and get to know the city you like.”

Are you the chief of Spain ‘Santorini’ from Spain?

There is a city in Costa Blanca that looks like a stunning Greek island …

Altea in Costa Blanca has only 20 minutes by car from a famous British resort. However, it is far away from the city known for huge bars and clubs.

Altea is often visited by more locals than tourists, and the city was much calmer. This is the nickname of Spain Santorini, partly because of the white houses that have boured the narrow roads.

One of the more famous views of two bright blue-crown towers overlooking the streets, part of the city church.

The best place to leave is the Old Town, which has an incredible view of the beach and a huge mountain in the distance – part of Parc Natural de la Serra Gelada.

Impressive Plaza de la Iglesia, with a church in the heart, is lined with bars and restaurants, markets that take place on weekends by cobblestone streets, and at summer festivals they affect the whole area.

Along the way, many small stores sank into buildings selling local gifts such as little things and clothing.

Otherwise outside the historic center, it is at sea, and the 500 -meter beach consists of gravel and sand.

Jacqui continued, “I love Almored, but if I knew what I was doing then, I would choose somewhere closer to the water.

“I didn’t realize how much I love more. So, I would advise anyone who wants to move to the city or village first, and also in winter and summer.”

Still, Jacqui insisted that he would never move away from Almoredi now – that became her home.

From this move, she continued to explore many other areas in Spain, such as Guadalmar, Galicia, Andalusia and Pyrenees.

Jacqui told us, “Every morning, I wake up, look out the window over the mountains and think” how happy I am? “I wish I had done it 20 years ago.”
