“It was an absolute joy to work with Stephen to bring this story on the screen about choosing his own happiness and discovering resistance after loss,” Harmel says in a statement shared with people. The author and Tolkin also wrote a pilot series after Harmel began treatment with chemotherapy for breast cancer radiation. “It was amazing to work on such a story – which explores movement through a difficult moment in search of a better future – while I was on such a trip in my own life,” the author said. “So in many ways, this is a particularly personal project for me.”

Harmel will also partner with the production company Original Film, along with Neal Moritz and Tony Ascher, to turn his 2019 novel, Woman’s wifeto the movie. Located in France from World War II, a historic novel draws from real life stories from French resistance.
