Ice-T Wants SVU’s Benson and Stabler to ‘Hit a Motel’ Already — and Mariska Hargitay Agrees: ‘God Yes’

Law and order: SVU fans aren’t the only ones waiting for Olivia Benson and Elliot Stabler to get their relationship out of the friend zone!

Mariska Hargitay, who plays Benson, revealed that she can’t wait for her character to finally make things official with Stabler (Christopher Meloni) after they forged an undeniable relationship spanning 25 seasons.

“God, yes,” she said Party tonight. “There’s no show in the history of television where the characters have been together so long that the relationships are truly earned, truly organic. So Chris and I can go places that no one else can because we’ve lived it. Everything is so much deeper. ”

Ice-T, who plays Finn Tutuola on the show, agreed with his co-star but admitted he had “given up” on Benson and Stabler getting together over the years.

“Ice doesn’t care. I gave up on them. I’m a spectator. So I look at them like, ‘Get on with it! Get to work! Stop playing,'” he joked. “‘If you love her, Elliot, let’s go now!’ Finn, he just wants Olivia to be happy. That’s why he’ll keep quiet. He knows Elliot. And Elliot is his man.”

He added, “But as a viewer, I’m like, ‘You’re going to have to go to a motel or something and make it happen.'”

Fans have watched Benson and Stabler work together in Manhattan’s Special Victims Unit for 12 seasons. The two have shared plenty of smoldering, tense moments over the years — especially since Meloni launched the Stabler-centric spinoff Law and order: organized crime in 2021

During an appearance in February 2023 on Today Hargitay teased that fans might finally see the crime-fighting duo finally get their happily ever after in future episodes ALL.

“Benson and Stabler love each other so much. It’s so deep,” she told host Savannah Guthrie. “The show will probably only last another 23 years, so I think we should wait and see.”

In Season 24, fans went wild after Benson and Stabler had an emotional moment that led to the pair almost kissing.

“I think we’ve both been waiting a long time, we just want to make sure and do it right,” Hargitay said of filming the scene with Meloni. “The good news is that we’re so comfortable with each other, it’s been easy and fun and we trust each other, it’s been nice that way. We’ve just been focusing on work.”
