It comes after he told his fan base that he may only have “a matter of months” left after the heartbreaking diagnosis.

In a social media post, DJ KID shared the sad news with fans this afternoon.

His Facebook post read: “It is with great sadness that I announce the sad death on Sunday afternoon of legendary Scottish DJ, producer and long-time friend Mallorca Lee, who was diagnosed with terminal cancer just 4 weeks ago. He was 51.

“During this incredibly upsetting time, my deepest sympathies go out to his wife Maria Mallorca, his children Angel and Ocean, and his extended family and friends.

“You will be greatly missed, brother, but your energy and legacy will live on.”

Popular Scottish DJ George Bowie shared his heartbreak following Lee’s death and paid tribute to a “true legend”.

Alongside a picture of the couple, he wrote on Instagram: “Totally devastated by the news of Mall’s death.

“We’ve had so many good times at shows across the country over the past 30 years.

“We had to prepare for the Festivals we organized this summer.

“A true legend and pioneer of dance music in Scotland has been taken too soon.

All our thoughts are with his family now. Heartbreaking, really heartbreaking.”

In 1991, Lee founded the techno group Ultra-Sonic in Ayrshire, which gained a loyal following on the rave scene.

The group was known for their hits Obsession, Love Me Right and Angels.

Lee left the band in 2003 to focus on his solo career as a DJ and producer.

Lee was diagnosed with terminal cancer just four weeks ago.

Well-wishers have launched an online crowd funder to help the Scottish DJ pay for his medical expenses.

Hundreds of donations were made within hours of the gofundme campaign going online, and Ultra-Sonic’s 1994 song Obsession reached number four in the UK Official Singles Chart.

After his diagnosis, Lee apologized for not telling all of his friends and family individually in a post, explaining that he didn’t have the “strength” to do it all again.

He wrote: “I have been diagnosed with terminal cancer, the doctor said it could be a matter of months.

“I apologize for not telling all my family and friends individually. It just breaks my heart a thousand times and I don’t have the strength to go through it all over and over again.

“I love you all. The last 10 years have been the best of all. It really has been wonderful.
