With Christmas just around the corner, Preply has designed this fun puzzle.
It’s a typical Christmas market with a few shoppers browsing what’s on offer.
The stands are open, and banners with holiday messages lie above them.
Snow falls from the sky as night falls as the market below exudes a warm glow.
And Christmas decorations and wreaths complete the seasonal picture.
But can you spot the ten hidden words in this picturesque setting?
We can give you a clue. They are:
- Reindeer
- Elves
- Snow
- Santa Claus
- Three
- Mistletoe
- Presents
- Miser
- Christmas
- Tinsel
These words were chosen because of their deep-rooted association with Christmas.
Language expert, Sylvia Johnson of Preply comments, “The rich tapestry of Christmas-themed language reflects the holiday’s diverse and enduring history.
“Words like ‘bauble’ come from Germanic and Old English origins, reflecting the widespread influence of these languages on Christmas celebrations.
“For example, ‘glitter’ comes from the Old French word ‘estinceler’, which means ‘to sparkle’.
“Its association with glittering decorations reflects the holiday illuminations that transform homes and cities during the Christmas season.
“Similarly, the term ‘yuletide’ goes back to the ancient Norse celebration of Christmas, highlighting the mix of pagan and Christian customs that shaped the holiday we know and love today.”
You might get off to a good start finding a few words, but don’t let that early success fool you.
Some of the words do not give up their hiding places easily.
