If you can see two faces in this optical illusion you’re in the top 1% – do you see the sad man or angry guy?

The optical illusion is so challenging that only a small part of the population can see the two faces contained in the image.

With a little advice from the content creator who shared it, you just might be able to break into that exclusive upper tier.

Host Dean Jackson has a background in biology, but on TikTok he entertains his 594,000 followers with riddles, brain teasers, and optical illusions.

His latest video included a defiant illusion, which shows a sad looking man in front of him and also features a different image.

“Right now you’re looking at a man’s face that looks a little sad,” Jackson explained.

“It is said that just under one percent of people can even see an angry face.”

He gave a few seconds delay so viewers could try to see the angry man for themselves.

“If you can’t see the angry face, put your finger on the screen right there,” Jackson continued. A red arrow flashed on the screen.

Jackson said putting a finger on the screen could help viewers see a different image.

“Wait a minute,” he ordered. “Give yourself five more seconds.”

If covering the upper corner of the face doesn’t work, Jackson had specific instructions for viewers.

“If you still can’t see that face, then post ‘What angry face?'” he said.

Other viewers chimed in in the comments, providing guidance to those who couldn’t yet see the afterimage.

“If you’re having trouble, think of the ear as an eye,” wrote one person.

Another gave step by step advice.

“Cover from top of head to right side of face,” they wrote.

“Tilt the phone a bit to the right and it has one black eye and one white eye.”

Even after seeing the angry image, several commenters noted that it was difficult to keep an eye on both illusions.

“My brain still wants to see the original,” one person admitted.

And others who were lucky enough to see both faces had comments on the image itself.

“It’s not what I would consider anger,” the viewer explained. “I think I would just say two faces, different perspectives.”
