Iggy Pop is currently married to Nina Alu, his third wife. He has been married to her since 2008. However, before this he had a crazy life and an even wilder relationship history. Pop was married and divorced twice before he met Ala. One of these unions lasted only a few weeks. His first marriage to Wendy Weissberg ended when he kicked her out of the home they shared. This sparked a rage in which he began dating women for short periods of time, some of whom were only children.

How Iggy Pop’s first marriage ended
In 1968, Iggy Pop married his wife Weissberg. Their wedding was “fun,” according to Stooges bandmate Ron Asheton. Asheton was his best man at his wedding and partner in crime in all his other ventures. Weissberg was Jewish and the daughter of a wealthy discount retailer. Her parents did not know about her marriage to Pop, and none of her family members attended. After the wedding, she moved to Pop. At the time, he was living in a cohabitation with his bandmates.
Pop’s residence with them became a source of contention in his marriage. She wanted to sleep during the night. However, Pop liked to party and make noise. In the end, the “Godfather of Punk” realized that either his career or his wife had to take a back seat. He refused to keep the house quiet, making tunes at all hours of the night and whenever he wanted. This was the deciding factor for Weissberg. It was also Asheton who predicted the duration of his marriage – a month. No doubt, he was right. Pop told her to leave after two weeks of marriage. And she succeeded, filing for divorce shortly thereafter. In court documents, Weissberg stated that the marriage was not consummated and that he was gay. Each member of the group laughed and even hung papers on the wall “for centuries”.

Iggy Pop’s relationships after his first marriage
After receiving the divorce papers, Pop returned to his former wild and dissolute habits. Soon after, he started going out with girls, carefree. “I regained my freedom,” the singer explained during one of the interviews for Please Kill Me: The Uncensored Oral History of Punk. He started wandering around and came across a hamburger joint frequented by children. He found inspiration for the Stooges’ debut record in Betsy, a 14-year-old girl there. Pop developed feelings for her and no matter how many women he saw on the side, he always came back to her. Even better, the musician met her parents. However, nothing came of that meeting.
In another incident, he was romantically involved with 13-year-old Sable Starr. He was then 23 years old. After a few years of this madness, he met his second wife in Suchi Asana. They married in 1984 and divorced in 1998. It only took Pop a year to rediscover love. He met flight attendant Nina Ala in 1999. Their relationship progressed quickly. They lived together until 2000. Eight years later, their wedding took place, and with it came the realization that he was lucky to have met her. Pop had no children in any of his three marriages. However, he has a child. Eric was born to him and his friend Paulette Benson. However, he did not raise him. Despite the fact that Eric worked for him in the 1980s, they are not rumored to be close.
