I’m A Celeb’s Coleen Rooney praised by Becky Vardy after she’s covered in bugs and rats during first trial since Wagatha

COLEEN Rooney tackled her first Bushtucker trial last night – after husband Wayne sparked a surge of votes by urging millions to nominate her.

She covered herself in animals after the soccer legend, 39, made a plea to her 62 million followers on social media just hours before Saturday’s poll.

The Plymouth FC boss said he and their four sons would “love” to watch Coleen, 38, take on the challenge in the Australian jungle.

They got their wish as the public backed Detective Wagath Christie and radio DJ Dean McCullough, 32, to stand trial for Absolute Carnage.

Coleen said of her Bushtucker trial: “I’m excited for my boys at home to see me doing something.

“I hope I do well, I’ll do my best.”

She had creepy crawlies and rats all over her in a tin cup, but she remained calm as she unrolled the stars for the camp meal.

Meanwhile, Wimpy Dean – who shouted “I’m a celebrity, get me out of here” at the other two trials – screamed as fish guts fell out at him.

But they collected nine out of 12 stars for the camp.

It came after Wayne posted a message on his official Facebook, X and Instagram profiles, which read: “Me and the boys would love to see her work a trial and we know she’d want to put herself through a trial.

“Let’s go to vote!”

He later joked to X, “I think I might be in trouble here.”

A source said: “Coleen has had plenty of time to talk about Wayne and Wagatha but she wants to get stuck into the trials and show what she’s made of.

“Wayne knows this, so he encouraged all his followers to vote for her – and his posts definitely influenced the vote.”

Speaking to host Joel Dommett in a video call for I’m A Celeb ITV2 spin-off Unpacked, Wayne said he voted for Coleen to take the challenges.

Wayne, who won’t be able to meet Coleen when she leaves the show due to work, also revealed it’s the longest he and his childhood sweetheart have been apart since they were kids.

And he said his boys – Kai, 15, Klay, 11, Kit, eight and six-year-old Cass – miss him dearly.

Away from the trial, Coleen told how she and Wayne met Donald Trump in his first term as president – and she wasn’t impressed.

She said: “When we lived in America we were invited to the White House for Christmas and we went to meet Donald Trump.

“He said to my son, ‘See? I told you, all football players have hot girlfriends. And I told my mom, I was like ‘dirty dick’.”

Meanwhile, McFly’s Danny Jones and boxing legend Barry McGuigan have been chosen as the camp’s new leaders.

The public backed them to replace singer Tulisa Contostavlos and Corrie’s Alan Halsall.

Watch out friends… it’s Becky Vardy

There’s a storm blowing at home, but there’s definitely a rumble in the jungle.

Luckily it’s not in the stomachs of the camp friends, because Teabag Dean had Coleen with him for Absolute Carnage and they managed to get nine stars.

I applaud Coleen. She really held her nerve as mealworms, cockroaches and rats crawled all over her.

Danny is still my number one. He has the most infectious personality and as a camp leader I think his personality will shine through even more.

I report that he got his own bed. But I’ll tell you something – there will be some serious bed wars, that’s for sure.

Fair play to the reverend, he’s drama free. And as a cook with Oti, he found his place in the camp.

Dean really doesn’t want to sleep with rats, does he? He’s definitely not very happy. Still, after that tentative win, hopefully the only way is up.
