Iconic dancer Sticky Vicky passed away last year aged 80, leaving a huge void in Benidorm’s entertainment scene.

Her unique career spanned from exotic dancing to X-rated performance with mischievous magic tricks on stage.

After her death, her daughter Maria (42) continued the show, which was particularly popular among British tourists.

On a warm summer night, a crowd of young tourists gather in front of Benidorm’s Palladium to watch Sticky Vicky’s new show.

The performance begins with a dedication – a collage of old photos of her late mom before Maria appears on stage.

Although her performance is very reminiscent of her mom’s famous show, she introduced a new feature; acrobatics.

Maria told The Sun that her show has become even more popular than her mum’s – particularly among women.

She says it’s not a “sexy magic show,” it’s more “artistic.”

Moments before taking to the stage, Maria told The Sun: “It’s more popular with women. It’s nice and funny for them.

“People are different on weekends, there are big groups for parties, it’s crazier.

“But the cabarets are quieter, like old Benidorm.”

Maria explains that the entertainment scene in Benidorm has changed a lot since her mum’s time and that cabaret shows are not what they used to be.

She added: “Now it’s mostly young people with a different mentality, Internet mentality, TikTok mentality.

“Now there are more discos, crazy parties, more erotic and not artistic performances.”

Marija believes that her famous mother would be proud of her and would encourage her to continue her work.

Sticky Vicky became a legend in Benidorm after moving to Spain in the 1980s.

At her peak, she performed tirelessly six nights a week for over 30 years.

She performed in the Costa Blanca resort, which is nicknamed Little England due to the number of British tourists.

In 2001, she went to court against an adult entertainer in Benidorm known as Sticky Barbara after discovering she had registered the name Sticky Vicky as her own.

Judges sided with the real Sticky Vicky in 2009 after ruling that Maria Rosa Pereira had acted in “bad faith” and told Vicky Leyton that she was the legal owner of the trademark.

She finally hung up her dancing boots in 2016 – days before undergoing hip surgery.

The following year, she was diagnosed with uterine cancer and announced her retirement at the age of 72.

The Benidorm star died aged 80 after suffering heart failure in hospital on November 29.
