The Food Network chef shared a sweet snap of her husband on a romantic date

Ina Garten made the most of the end of summer.

On Monday, the Food Network star shared a sweet snap from her date with her husband of more than 50 years. Jeffrey showed support for his wife in an Instagram photo wearing a “Barefoot Contessa” baseball cap.

“The last official day of summer. I’d say someone had a good time!” wrote Ina in the description. “I hope you are too!! ❤️❤️❤️.”

The couple enjoyed a romantic date at the Mostrador Montauk restaurant not far from her home in East Hampton, New York. Ina marked the hot spot in her post.

Fans and friends had sweet messages about Jeffrey’s smiling portrait. Julianna Margulies, who previously appeared on Be my guest with Ina Garten, he commented, “Jeffrey!❤️❤️❤️.” One enthusiastic fan wrote: “He’s your #1 fan 🥹❤️,” while another commented: “The love affair we’re all watching just keeps getting better!!”

In March 2022, Ina spoke to PEOPLE about her decades-long marriage to Jeffrey. Since Jeffrey is a professor, the couple used to spend most weekdays away from each other and weekends together. Jeffrey would travel to Connecticut to teach at Yale, and Ina would stay at their home writing her cookbooks and filming her TV shows.

But the COVID-19 pandemic changed their long-standing routine – suddenly they found themselves in the same place 24 hours a day.

“One of the things we’ve learned during the pandemic is how wonderful it is to have seven days a week together. It’s just amazing,” Ina told PEOPLE.

She added: “We had this schedule for 40 years, where he would leave on Monday and come back on Friday. And then when this pandemic happened, I thought, ‘Oh, wow. What’s going to happen here?’ And 24 hours later, I’m like, ‘This is great. I have a friend all the time.’ ”

Instead of commuting, Ina said Jeffrey would go to work at an office building they owned in East Hampton, and Ina continued to cook at home.

“We get up, have a normal morning, and then we just go to our own corner. He goes to his office and I go to the barn. And then we meet for lunch and spend the afternoon together,” she said during the time. “It’s pretty awesome.”
