Inside Joanna Lumley’s relationship with her famous son Jamie

Who is Joanna Lumley’s son?

Joanna Lumley’s son is photographer Jamie Lumley. Discovering his passion at the age of 6, Jamie went on to study professional photography practice at London College of Printing.

Since then, he has traveled around the UK creating products for exhibitions and his work has been shown in London, Poland, Paris and Beijing.

Jamie was born in 1967 when Joanna was 21 years old and her only child. The pair have a very close relationship, the TV star raised her child as a single mother after splitting from Jamie’s father, photographer Michael Claydon.

In conversation with Esther Rantzen about her It’s the afterlife! podcast, Joanna talked about sending Jamie to boarding school while she was busy with business commitments. She reveals that she promised to come pick him up if he doesn’t like himself, but she never received his letter begging her to save him.

“I made a pact with him,” she revealed. “I said: ‘Look, if you like it, just text me and say you hate it, I’ll come and take you away, it’s okay’.”

“He wrote to me, but it took me a long time to find out that the headmaster had taken all the letters. The boys had to give all their letters to the headmaster before they were sent to him. sealed and sent, and he had to rewrite letters that said: ‘Please take me away.”

“He was never able to text me, so I never knew and I could never receive him,” she added.

In another interview with Australian Women’s Weekly, the actress revealed that because of his childhood, one of her biggest regrets was not receiving his letters. “That realization still burns me to this day,” she admits. “I love my son. He’s been the gold in my life and thinking he’s miserable and believing I haven’t kept my promise. It just shakes me to the core.”

Now 54, Jamie has two teenage daughters of her own, Alice and Emily, whom Joanna loves dearly. Talk to northern echo Back in 2018, Joanna described it as “absolute paradise” when her beloved grandchildren came to her.
