AMERICAN singer Macy Gray was exposed tonight as the Masked Singer diva who refused to be exposed.

A source revealed that after Macy made it to the finals of the US version as Sea Queen in 2023, she was “completely blindsided” by being one of the first to leave the series.
Tonight viewers of The Masked Singer saw her storm off the stage after host Joel Dommett, 39, revealed she had been ejected – but she was then seen returning to the stage, seemingly moments later.
But in fact bosses battled for nearly an hour to coax Macy back on stage – none of which was seen on screen.
The whistleblower said: “This has never happened before in The Masked Singer.

“When Macy ran off the stage, everyone was frozen in shock, but as soon as she got backstage, the crew took off her mask so they could calm her down.
“Macy was almost shocked at first and was actually annoyed that she came out so early because she really enjoyed being on the American version – when she was obviously brilliant – so she was completely blindsided.
“For her it was a shock as well as upset and at that moment she had a very raw, human reaction and wanted out.
“For a professional performer to get to that point shows how bad she felt.
“Obviously The Masked Singer is not a singing competition and it’s just for fun, so being kicked out is no indication of her talent, but no one could believe that a global superstar like Macy had lost like this.
“It took ages for everyone backstage to talk and poor Joel was on stage basically doing a stand-up routine to try and keep things under control.

“Eventually they managed to get Macy to come back on stage and be properly unmasked and sing one last time.
“But it was completely wild.”
Tonight’s show saw Joel read the name Toad In The Hole and the crowd cheered, then Toad stormed off stage.
None of the frantic scramble backstage is shown, just a shot of the panel including the shocked faces of Davina McCall and Jonathan Ross.
Toad was then shown returning to the stage to be unmasked and it seemed like only a few minutes had passed.
Joel first hinted at Macy’s explosion when he spoke exclusively to The Sun last week.
He said: “The great thing about this series is that someone gets really annoyed when they get voted off and storms off the stage.
“Seeing someone dash off in a massive costume . . . it was more of a shuffle!”

Toad In The Hole sings against Pufferfish, Bear, Wolf and Bush in tonight’s show, the latest in a storming streak for the ITV1 and IVX favorite as it enjoys a peak audience of 4.7 million.
So far, they are assumed to be Jamie Lynn Spears, Michael Sheen, Marti Pellow and Patrick Stewart.
Kate Garraway aka Spag Bol and Prue Leith aka Pegasus were the first to leave this year’s series.
The Sun first told of the characters’ chaos on Friday, when an audience member told us: “It was absolutely crazy. Usually the celebrity with the fewest votes takes off their mask, then talks to the panel and sings again.

To the delight of TV fans, The Masked Singer returns in 2025.
“But instead this character turned and walked off stage, which was obviously hilarious in their costume, but we were all stunned.
“We knew something was up because we saw a lot of back-and-forth with the crew before the person finally came back on stage.”
A celebrity has never reacted badly to their exposure in the ITV show’s five-year history.
Soul superstar Dionne Warwick went first in 2024, while the second series saw Sophie Ellis Bexter go in week one and Spice Girl Mel B in week two.
An ITV spokesman declined to comment.
