Inside Phillip Schofield’s ‘lonely life’ including weekly therapy and odd jobs for estranged wife after This Morning axe

PHILLIP Schofield has been living a ‘lonely life’ in the months since his brutal departure from This Morning, with his days filled with therapy sessions and odd jobs.

According to sources close to the disgraced star (61), his life has changed in a way that would have been ‘unthinkable’ just a year ago.

While his former best friend and This Morning co-host Holly WIlloughby was all smiles and hit the NTA red carpet with her co-stars this week, Phillip’s world is a million miles away from his previous existence.

The Mail claims the TV veteran now spends most of his time taking long solo walks, fixing things around his estranged wife Stephanie Lowe’s house and attending weekly therapy sessions.

He also spends a lot of time in Cornwall looking after his elderly mother.

A friend told the publication: “Phil’s life has changed in a way that was previously unimaginable for him.

“Look at this time last year, when he was also returning to This Morning after a holiday at Holly and her family’s villa next door. Now he’s got nothing but a lot of free time. It’s almost like he’s taken early retirement, but obviously not of his own accord.”

A friend claims that in addition to spending time “licking his wounds,” Phil can’t bear to watch the show he helped make a success of.

“Watching it was the last thing he would have done,” they said, adding that Phil was instead focusing on dealing with the mistakes of the past and looking to the future.

He spends a lot of time talking to a therapist, at least once a week. That’s what he’s mostly doing right now, thinking about what he did wrong and trying to come to terms with his new life. It all came as an incredible shock to him and he is struggling to cope.

“He feels like he needs someone professional to talk to about everything. The situation has put a strain on his family and he’s decided he needs another outlet.”

Phil is also said to have spoken to the mother of his two children, Steph, again and has been doing odd jobs at the family home in Oxfordshire.

He also spends a lot of time in Cornwall looking after his mum, Pat, 87.

He has been her sole guardian since his brother Timothy was convicted of child sexual abuse earlier this year.

Phil had great support from his daughters, Molly and Ruby Schofield, who followed in their father’s footsteps by unfollowing Holly on social media.

A source told the DailyMail: “Both Molly and Ruby saw their father go through hell, they were there for him when he lost everything.

“Meanwhile, followers of Holly on Instagram see her getting on with her life.

“The whole scandal has taken its toll on them, their support for him has been unwavering and this is the final nail. They are fiercely loyal to their dad, despite everything that has happened.”

Holly and Phillip’s working relationship came to a shocking end in May when the latter admitted he had lied to her and revealed to bosses about a six-month affair with a much younger colleague.
