Inside the 'Adult Disney' Montecito Getaway Beloved by Kourtney and Travis, the Schwarzeneggers and Hollywood's A-Listers

Disneyland may officially be the happiest place on earth – but for Hollywood A-listers, the hidden gem of Montecito brings just as much joy.

While celebrities quietly flocked to the ultra-luxe Rosewood Miramar Beach Hotel after it opened in 2019, Travis Barker and Kourtney Kardashian helped put it further on the map with a romantic beach proposal two years later.

Patrick Schwarzenegger and his now-fiancée Abby Champion shared romantic sunset shots from the estate, Gigi Gorgeous and Nats Getty exchanged vows during a beach wedding, and even Larry David was recently spotted vacationing at a fancy hotel.

“It’s just a little piece of heaven here,” says director Rick Fidel of Miramar, which is owned by billionaire businessman Rick Caruso. “He had a vision and he knew this was a special place and he had an idea to make something that was really timeless.”

A “huge fan” of Walt Disney, Caruso helped design the property, which now looks like “grown-up Disney” with a heavy focus on landscaping.

“It sets the stage for the magic you feel when you’re here,” says Fidel, who notes that the hotel protects the privacy of its rich and famous clientele. “We have certain people who live in LA who come here, rent the presidential suite and have a private chef up there cooking dinner. It’s a place where celebrities come, athletes, anyone who’s easy to recognize and blends in with everyone else.”

While “a lot of people” get engaged at Miramar Beach (which also offers a private social club), Barker and Kardashian’s is “the grandest” the property has helped bring to life, notes Fidel.

For fans hoping to live like an A-lister, they can book the Ambassador Suite. “You really are the king of the castle. When you go up to the apartment, you go out to the balcony, which is on the second floor of the castle,” says Fidel. “You have a direct view of the Pacific Ocean, the Channel Islands, you have a beach house in the background and a kitchen inside – a full kitchen.”

“Most celebrities book there because they love the feeling of privacy and the view you get when you’re sitting on the balcony. There’s nothing like it,” he adds. Amenities include a “24/7” private driver, priority access to restaurant and spa reservations.

The “jewel in the crown” is the Caruso restaurant, which has been awarded a Michelin star three years in a row. But the Green Star — an award currently held by only 13 restaurants in the country for their sustainable practices — is something we’re “really, really proud of,” says Fidel.

At the end of the day, Miramar wants to be a “special destination” for everyone – famous or not.

“I come to this property and it never gets old. There is just a special feeling that somehow calms me down,” says Fidel.
