Irish Wish Costars Lindsay Lohan and Ayesha Curry’s Fond Memories of Ireland Include a ‘Weird Adventure’ (Exclusive)

Lindsay Lohan and Ayesha Curry made sure they had time for sightseeing while filming their romantic comedy in Ireland Irish wish.

Friends and colleagues, who sat down with PEOPLE earlier this month, recalled their behind-the-scenes escapades.

“We went to Newgrange one day,” says Lohan, 37, who calls the trip “such a weird adventure.”

“There’s an energy in the air there and it’s so historic,” adds Curry. “It’s older than the Egyptian pyramids, so there’s a lot of history there.”

Indeed, UNESCO, the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization, has declared Newgrange a World Heritage Site, a distinction given to landmarks of important historical, cultural or scientific significance.

“Bounded to the south by a bend in the River Boyne, the prehistoric site of Brú na Bóinne is dominated by three large burial mounds, Knowth, Newgrange and Dowth,” according to UNESCO. “Surrounded by around forty satellite passage graves, they form a funerary landscape thought to have great ritual significance, attracting later monuments from the Iron Age, Early Christian and Medieval periods.”

Lohan recalls about a two-hour drive to get there. “You remember when we were on the bus that was taking us to get there, we were like, ‘Where is he taking us?’ We’re nowhere, we’re going on forever,’” she tells Curry, who agrees, “The absolute middle of nowhere.”

When she got there, Lohan found the place “really beautiful and very peaceful.”

Lohan and Curry, whose spouses Bader Shammas, 37, a financier, and Golden State Warriors player Steph Curry, 36, also occasionally joined them in Ireland, explored other parts of the country.

“We did a lot of fun things,” says Lohan, who had son Luai last year. “That day we went to Dublin, we walked around and did some shopping. And then Dalkey was nice because it’s such a cosy, nice town.”

The seaside town and suburb of Dublin is known for its quiet charm and 14th-century castle.

On some occasions, the couples managed to squeeze in a few nights out on the Emerald Isle — until they had to shoot at the crack of dawn.

“We did it a few times,” Lohan says of the double dates. “Whenever we didn’t have very early calls, because we had some really early call times for this, like 4:30 pickup.”
