In addition, Shou Chew, CEO of ByteDance, shared a memo with Reuters announcing that Zenia Mucha, a former 20-year veteran at Walt Disney Co, will join TikTok as chief brand and communications officer.
Chew further mentioned that Adam Presser, currently TikTok’s chief of staff, will take on the role of head of operations. In this capacity, Presser will oversee content, user operations and distribution.
Because of its Chinese ownership, TikTok has faced scrutiny for security issues globally. Recent actions by US lawmakers reflect their efforts to protect US users’ data from exploitation by US adversaries.
In another case, TikTok filed a lawsuit against Montana after the state became the first to ban the app statewide, highlighting the ongoing legal challenges the platform faces.
