During his live on August 8, YouTuber IShowSpeed appeared to be arrested and jailed. After an unnamed person mistakenly reported him as dangerous, a group of Cincinnati police surrounded the content producer outside the building. Netizens could not believe that a beloved online personality was put in such a predicament.
A YouTuber appears to have been beaten while surrounded by police officers on one of his latest live shows. Swatting is a criminal method of harassment that involves tricking emergency services into sending the police or an emergency team to another person’s residence. Such activities are often done when individuals send false reports of significant illegal crimes such as bomb threats, murders, hostage situations, and so on.
The YouTuber was visibly confused during the event in the now-viral video. In wonder he said:
“Oh my god, dude! I promise I didn’t do anything wrong. I didn’t do anything. Oh my God!”
The cameraman continued to film the content creator until he was contacted by a police officer who told him to stop filming until the issue was resolved.
Internet users react to police crackdown on IShowSpeed
Darren Watkins Jr., better known online as IShowSpeed, has over 10.35 million YouTube followers. The resident of Cincinnati, Ohio is well known for his quirky and fiery demeanor. His live broadcasts are very popular among his followers. The YouTuber first gained popularity with his Fortnite broadcasts. Now he has become famous for his shows NBA 2K, Five Nights at Freddy’s 4, Minecraft and Talking Tom & Friends.
His last contact with the police force surprised the Internet. A video of the entire incident was posted on his official YouTube page. At the time of writing, the video titled “wtf” has approximately two million views. In his comments area, people expressed support and concern for the YouTuber. The 17-year-old is not the first streamer to be hit by the police while broadcasting live. Twitch broadcaster Adin Ross found himself in the same situation on August 7 when officers with guns blazing burst into his apartment before his life was ended.

Adin Ross addressed the issue on Twitter on August 8. After the event, another streamer informed his audience that the content producer was fine.
In the tweet he wrote:
“I got beaten up last night, which was scary.” I’m fine. I love you two. Speed was also hit; we just talked to him and he’s OK! Man, we live in a sick world.”
In the linked video he says:
“I also heard that Speed was hit by SWAT, we live in a twisted brutal world…I just got off the phone with Speed and he’s OK.”
At the time of writing, IShowSpeed has not resolved the issue.
