Issa Pointer became interested in music early because she grew up in a musical home. Pointer grew up with the help of her mother and relatives. During the tour of the singing group The Pointer Sisters in 1985, she first started playing music. She later worked on various songs with the band for multiple albums. In 2002, Issa took over from the group’s founding member June, who quit due to drug problems and eventually fell ill. After two years, she took over the duties of aunt as a permanent substitute. June, her aunt, died of lung cancer in 2006.
This singer, together with her mother and aunt Anita, Pointers experienced a successful revival in Europe with her duet hit with Natalia Druyts on the cover of the song ‘Sisters Are Doin’It for Themselves’.
