A WOMAN has hit out at Superdrug, calling their bargain prices an “optical illusion” and insisting the store should be renamed “Money Drug”.
Melina blew up a toiletry shop after going for an eyebrow pencil and spending almost £40.

In a video on her TikTok page, she said: “I’ve come to the conclusion that Superdrug has an optical illusion on their prices.
“When you’re looking at the wall or whatever, you’re looking at prices, it’s not really a price.
“Because when you get to the checkout, why is the price of things different?
“How did you spend more than you intended to spend?
“That place should be called Money Drug.
“I can’t be the only person who walks out of Superdrug, buys a £3 eyebrow pencil and spends £50. What the fuck?”
She explained that she initially went for a pencil but bought a primer instead – and the total cost in the shop was £36.47.
“What exactly is a gag?” asked Melina.
“The fact that I went for one item and got two or the fact that I ended up with multiple items and was charged nearly £40?
“I do not know.
“Drugs for money, optical illusions, scammers – they’re big scammers, I tell you.”
She captioned the video “#Ridiculous”.
And many people in the comments section were quick to agree with her, with one writing: “I was saying this Superdrug is supposed to be cheap!!
“Boots is where it’s at and their loyalty scheme is 10/10 for boots!”
“No, the boots are really it, man,” Melina replied.
“I can’t believe I spent so much on something so small LOL and I still have the card?!
“I hate that place”.
“I always freak out at the cash registers,” agreed another.
“Listen, that place is something else,” raged a third.
“Plus, it will encourage you to buy more when you get to the checkout.”
While someone else added: “As an employee, I sometimes look at the cash registers confused??
“Because how did it add up like that?”
“I’m avoiding Superdrug like crazy, we’re in a cost of living crisis,” insisted another.
“No I swear every time I think I’d spend about £10 it’s over £60,” someone else wrote.
Others came to the store’s defense, with one writing: “Sometimes they don’t update the discounts at checkout like they do on the tags.
“It happened to me more than once when I had to say that it says a different price on the label where the products are and they had to double check and correct it at the checkout.”
“But you picked up extra stuff loool,” said another.
“Okay, I’m doing the same, but I figured I’d take the basket in case there was a deal.”
A third commented: “You must get a loyalty card, it saves me heaps!”
