He was born into a musical family. His father Kumar Sanu is a famous Indian dubbing singer and his mother is Rita Bhattacharya. Jaan has two older brothers. The eldest brother Jesse is a teacher and the eldest brother Zicco is a graphic designer. In 1994, the year Jaan was born, Kumar Sanu divorced Rita. According to reports, Sanu married Jaan’s aunt Mita and then married Saloni and had two daughters: Shannon K and Annabel. Shannon K is a famous Hollywood singer and the adopted daughter of Kumar Sanu. Jaan Kumar’s grandfather Pashupati Bhattacharya was a singer-composer and his grandmother Neeta was also a singer.

Profession

At the age of eight, he released his first Bengali music album, Tomra Shunbe Toh, and was included in the Limka World Records for being the youngest singer to release a solo album. In 2003, he recorded his first song for the famous Indian singer Babul Bose in the movie Escape from the Taliban. He also sang with his father in the Bollywood movie Akele Hum Akele Tum (1995). He has worked as a voice actor, dubbing various cartoon characters. He also participated as a contestant in the TV reality show Rin Mera Star Superstar (2006).

At the age of 12, he lent his voice to the chorus of the Bollywood song Bam Bam Bole. As an adult, he made his debut as a singer in the 2019 Bengali film Roktomukhi Neela, singing the song Shorger Chaabi. In 2016, he sang a cover of his father’s song Dil Mera Churaya Kyun, from the Hindi film Akele Hum Akele Tum (1995).

On his YouTube channel, he has uploaded several cover songs, some of which have been viewed more than a million times. In 2020, he released the song “Tu Sandali”, which was dedicated to his grandmother as the song was recorded on the same day that his grandmother passed away.
