Jacob Elordi Admits He Mostly Knew About Elvis Presley from Lilo & Stitch Before Playing Singer in Priscilla

Jacob Elordi’s awareness of Elvis Presley growing up was mostly limited to the Disney cartoon.

The Euphoria star portrays a rock ‘n’ roll icon in Sofia Coppola’s new film Priscilla. While it is on The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon on Monday, Elordi, 26, admitted he didn’t know much about Presley beyond the 2002 animated Disney film. Lilo & Stitch.

Host Fallon, 49, asked: “Were you an Elvis fan growing up?” The actor replied: “No. Most of what I knew about Elvis was inside Lilo & Stitch … which, by the way, is a lot.”

IN Lilo & Stitch, Lilo teaches her blue alien friend Stitch to be a Presley fan, with several of his famous songs on the soundtrack. The film was written and directed by Christopher Sanders and Dean DeBlois.

For the film’s 20th anniversary last year, DeBlois said Sup at first “they didn’t think we’d ever be able to license the music or be able to feature Elvis in a movie.”

“I was like, hell, Elvis Presley wanted to be James Dean. He wanted to be Marlon Brando. I researched almost every actor from that era and I passed [Elvis] as an entertainer and singer,” said Elordi at the time.

“But then he was an actor. I guess, in a way, I try to learn from those people. Because obviously I don’t have friends who have gone through the same thing, really, so they’re almost like beacons of guidance.”

He talked and was so charming to the press, but you could see in his eyes that he was just tired, Elordi said. “He says, ‘I’m tired, man. I’ve only had four, five hours of sleep, I’m tired.’ It’s very sad to me, because it’s a different time period and it’s someone who’s gone 10 billion times from anything I’ve experienced, but it’s the same feeling.”
