Jacob Elordi Lands Role as Frankenstein’s Monster in Guillermo del Toro’s Netflix Movie

Only after viral success SaltburnJacob Elordi has found his next role.

Elordi, 26, will take the place of Frankenstein’s monster in Netflix’s upcoming adaptation of Mary Shelley’s 1818 novel The Euphoria star will star opposite Oscar Isaac, who will play scientist Victor Frankenstein, in this latest adaptation directed by Oscar-winning director Guillermo del Toro.

PEOPLE has reached out to Elordi’s reps for details on the actor who has been cast as science experiment Victor Frankenstein.

The Priscilla the actor is reportedly replacing Andrew Garfield, who Deadline reports has left the project due to “strike delays that led to scheduling conflicts.” Other actors involved in the untitled project include Mia Goth, Christoph Waltz, Felix Kammerer, Lars Mikkelsen and David Bradley.

Del Toro previously won an Oscar for his work on the 2017 films The shape of waterin 2006 Pan’s Labyrinth and in 2022 Pinocchio.

Frankenstein has been shown on the big screen many times, including in 1931 Frankensteinin 1935 Bride of Frankensteinin 1939 Son of Frankensteinin 1943 Frankenstein meets Wolf Man, 1944 House of Frankensteinn, 1948 Bud Abbott and Lou Costello meet Frankenstein and more adaptations.

This role for Elordi comes after a busy 2023, during which he played Elvis Presley in Sofia Coppola’s Priscilla and Felix Catton in Emerald Fennell Saltburn. Elordi will resume his role as Nate Jacobs in season three Euphoria.
