In 2022, Jada Pinkett Smith exclusively shared plans with PEOPLE to release a “no holds barred” book about everything from her “unconventional upbringing in Baltimore” to falling in love with husband Will Smith.

But now that Worthy is here, how does her family feel about it?

In an interview published by InStyle on Tuesday, the Set It Off actress, 52, told the publication how she prepared those closest to her about the tell-all ahead of her arrival.

“What I did was tell them what’s in the book, what stories I was going to tell about them specifically, and [ask] if they were okay with that,” Pinkett Smith shared.

She and The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air alum, 55, shares two children, Willow Smith, 22, Jaden Smith, 25. Will also shares son Trey Smith, 30, with ex-wife Sheree Zampino.

“Willow has read [it]she’s an avid reader, and she’s the next author in the family,” Pinkett Smith said while teasing that the “Memories” singer has a fictional book of her own coming out in May 2024.

The Girls Trip the actress added that her daughter “loved” the memoir “before it was even edited.”

“She couldn’t wait, she’s like, ‘Mom, I’m taking this copy. I got to finish my reading.’ She was super excited about it. But the boys [Jaden and Trey], I just told them what was in it. They’ll read it eventually,” Pinkett Smith continued.

In the bombshell book, the Red Talk Talk talent discusses many secrets surrounding her life — including that she and Will have been separated since 2016.

While promoting Worthy during an appearance on the Today show last week, Pinkett Smith opened up to Hoda Kotb on why she waited to share the news of their non-traditional marriage.

“I think just not being ready yet, still trying to figure out between the two of us how to be in a partnership and in regards to how do we present that to people. And we hadn’t figured that out,” she admitted.

While Willow couldn’t get enough of her mother’s memoir, Will revealed he was “all over the place” after reading his wife’s innermost thoughts about her life and their family dynamic.

Ace Pinkett Smith’s Worthy promo tour continued, the Menace II Society actress stopped to speak with Jay Shetty for him On Purpose podcast which aired on Monday via iHeartRadio.

During their conversation, Shetty pulled out a letter written by the Men in Black star and read it.

“I just turned the final page of Worthy,” wrote Will. “It is amazing to realize that despite having lived most of my life by your side, I still found myself shocked and stunned and caught off guard, laughing, then inspired, then heartbroken. I was all over the place.”

The pair has been married since 1997.

“It’s one thing to hear anecdotes at a family barbecue, but it was truly overwhelming to take in your story, potently condensed in this way,” he continued.

The Golden Globe winner referred to his wife as “one of one, a rare blend of power and delicate sensitivity,” while confessing, “If I had read this book 30 years ago, I definitely would have hugged you more. I’ll start now.”

Pinkett Smith also recently discussed her decades-long relationship with Will to PEOPLE.

“We’re still figuring it out. Relationships, it’s an organism — constantly shifting and constantly moving. We’ve been doing some really heavy-duty work together. We just got deep love for each other, and we are going to figure out what that looks like for us. A lot happened over the last two years,” she said after referencing the infamous Oscars slap.
