Jada Pinkett Smith Wishes Husband Will Smith a Birthday ‘Full of Growth, Acceptance and Joy’

Jada Pinkett Smith wishes her husband Will Smith a happy birthday.

To celebrate Will’s 55th birthday on Monday, Jada, 52, shared a throwback black-and-white family photo on Instagram showing the longtime couple with Will’s eldest son Trey, as well as the couple’s two children, Jaden and Willow. Will shares Trey, 30, with ex-wife Sheree Zampino.

“Willard✨ I’m so glad you were born on this day. Without you I wouldn’t have experienced the greatest joy in my life… the love of our family,” Jada captioned a photo of the entire family wearing white outfits.

“On this divine task we have chosen to walk together, I am grateful for the wells of laughter along the trails of tears we have shared,” she added in her caption. “Thank you for helping me learn to accept it all…with a smile. Here’s to another 100+ birthdays full of growth, acceptance and joy♥️🪽”

Celebrating his birthday, Will took to Instagram to share a video from his birthday in 2018, when he took an unforgettable bungee jump from a helicopter over the Grand Canyon to celebrate his 50th time around the sun.

“5 years ago today, someone tripped!” he wrote in the description of that post.

September is proving to be a busy month for the Smith family, as Jada’s birthday falls just one week before Will’s. Last Monday, Will shared a carousel of photos on Instagram highlighting moments from five of Jada’s birthday parties in recent years, including when he enlisted rapper Rakim to perform at Jada’s 30th birthday bash.

“Happy birthday Mamita! I’ve been to 28 of your birthday parties. (Don’t know if we’ll ever top the one with Rakim…but here’s to a lifetime of trying!) #WalkingEachOtherHome,” Will captioned the post.

Will and Jada met for the first time on the set of the movie The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air 1994 when Jada auditioned to play Will’s on-screen girlfriend, Lisa Wilkes. Jada was not cast, but she and Will finally started dating after Will divorced Sheree Fletcher.

The couple married in December 1997, while Jada was three months pregnant with their son Jaden, who was then born in July 1998. The couple added a daughter, Willow, to the family in October 2000.

Last year, a source told PEOPLE that the Smiths had arranged private celebrations on consecutive weekends with the family to celebrate each of Will and Jada’s birthdays.

“Will and Jada each celebrated their birthdays at home, with all three kids,” a source said at the time. “It was a small, intimate celebration with the family at home – two weeks in a row.”
