On Wednesday, June 10, 2020, he passed away due to an asthma attack. He was hospitalized 3-4 days before his death. After his death, Taarak Mehta Ka Ooltah Chashmah fame Ambika Ranjankar (Komal Hathi) wrote a heart-warming message on her social media account. She wrote,
Kind, supportive, great sense of humour… gone too soon… may your soul gain grief… Shanti… Jagesh, we will miss you dear friend. ”
