Jagesh is an Indian actor, politician and director. He mainly works in Kannada film industry. He is a member of the Lok Sabha and spokesperson of the Karnataka Bharatiya Janata Party. He is known for his sharp comic roles in films such as Thrinethra (1990), Ranadheera (1987), Narasimha (1989) and Thothapuri: Chapter 2, Raghavendra Stores (2023) famous. In a 40-year film career, he appeared in 150 films.

In 2004, Jaggesh Shivlingappa contested his first Karnataka Legislative Assembly election from Turuvekere district but failed. In 2008, he ran again in the same district and won the election. During Operation Lotus in 2008, he resigned from the Legislative Assembly and joined the Bharatiya Janata Party as a member of the Legislative Assembly and as the Vice Chairman of the Karnataka State Road Transport Corporation (KSRTC). In the 2018 Karnataka Legislative Assembly elections, Jagesh, as the Bharatiya Janata Party candidate from Yeshwanthpur constituency, finished third with 60,000 votes.

Parimala’s father files six cases against Jagesh for child marriage
Jaggesh, 21, married Parimala when he was 16 years old. Parimala’s father, a politician, filed six cases against Jaggesh for marrying his minor daughter. Parimala spoke about her marriage in an interview and said:
We decided to register our marriage when I was 18 and officially announce our marriage to my parents. So, after my lab exam, we went to the registrar’s office and got married, under the pretext of attending a graduation party. I was underage but the rules were relaxed at the time and no proof of age was required. “
Due to the complaint against him, Jagesh and Parimala had to go through police investigation and could not meet until Parimala turned 18. Parimala was later shifted to Chennai by her father to pursue higher studies.
Unfortunately, a friend who witnessed our marriage got cold feet and told my parents. My father was furious and filed a police complaint against Jagesh. The police arrested my husband and beat him. I was also taken to the police station. We had to write a letter stating that we would not contact each other again and only after that, Jagesh was released. My father transferred me to a school in Chennai and I had to move immediately. I got to stay in Chennai for a year. During that time, I had no contact with my husband. I’m not even sure what he is doing and if he still loves me. It was thought that this would be the end of Jagesh’s love story. As for me, I have great faith in him and have no doubt that we can get back together after I turn 18, so I just continue with my daily activities. “

- Before entering the film industry, he changed his name from Eshwar Gowda to Jaggesh Shivlingappa.
- He earned the title ‘Navarasa Nayaka’ for his unique comedy roles in Kannada films.
- He had been suffering from back pain for years, after which he started receiving treatment in Bengaluru. In 2023, he injured his leg while trekking to Kedarnath, after which the pain worsened. Hence, his case was transferred from Bengaluru to Delhi. He took to social media to convey information about his health, saying:
I have back problems. I’ve managed it through my exercise choices for years. The situation worsened when I was hiking Kedarnath for 5 km without flip flops and the weather was 6 degrees Celsius. I was unprepared, resulting in L4L5 compression. I can take a complete rest now. ”
