James Bond Star George Lazenby Safely Home After Fall: ‘What a Fighter’

Veteran James Bond actor George Lazenby is recovering at home after a fall last month.

A spokesperson for Lazenby confirmed in writing to PEOPLE that “[Lazenby] he injured his head in an accidental fall at his house, but thankfully the scar from that is healing as expected (the stitches have just been removed) so all is well.”

The representative also added, “George is 84 years old,” and, correcting some reports of the incident, added, “George does not have, nor did he sustain, any brain injury.”

Anders Frejdh, the actor’s rep, also shared a snap of himself and Lazenby on Instagram, captioning it: “From LA with love 🥰 Three weeks after my arrival I’m very happy to report that @georgelazenbyofficial is safely back home. After an accidental fall at home in November that resulted in a head injury, he has made a good recovery thanks to the great team at Beverly West Healthcare for which I, his family and friends are grateful.”

Giving an insight into Lazenby’s condition, he added: “It’s not easy getting old, but at 84, George has certainly shown what a fighter he is. Love and only love.”

The picture shows a smiling Lazenby in bed at his home in California with Frejdh sitting next to him. Pictures that look like they were drawn by children decorate the walls of his bedroom, one of which reads “Happy Father’s Day.”

Lazenby was overwhelmed with well-wishes from fans following Frejd’s announcement. British model Jodie Kidd, 45, also commented: “There he is ❤️ thank you Anders for looking after my best man 😍 xxxx.”

Australian actor Lazenby played the title role in the 1969 Bond film On Her Majesty’s Secret Service. Acting in just one film, Lazenby is the shortest-serving Bond actor in history. Before him as Bond was Sean Connery, and he was succeeded by Roger Moore.

Lazenby was nominated for a Golden Globe Award for New Star of the Year in 1970 after the role.

His other career credits include the 1971 The universal soldier and in 1972 Who saw him die. In 2017, he participated in the Hulu documentary about the role that made him famous in the so-called Become Bond.

However, Lazenby is not ready to retire just yet. The actor’s spokesperson also confirmed to PEOPLE that he recently finished shooting some scenes for a new action movie titled Mundies which should come out next year. Frejdh revealed that Lazenby portrays the American president in the film.
