As a result, he was educated by a single mother, a former teacher and member of the Massapequa Public Schools Hall of Fame.
Similarly, John Devoti, his older brother, served in Afghanistan in 2004 and Iraq in 2008. He is currently a lieutenant colonel in the United States Marine Corps. James and his brother and sister are extremely grateful to their mother for raising them with such love. Unfortunately, their mother died in 2021.
He is a white American citizen. He also holds a BA in Communications/Advertising with a minor in Business from Loyola University. He was a member of the Loyola Greyhounds Men’s Lacrosse team during his college career. He also reached the Final Four.

Later in his career, he appeared in a number of television shows and features, including Heroes, CSI: NY, Dead Lake, The Unit, Jericho , Lie to Me, Modern Family, Rules of Engagement and Bones. In 2011, he became famous as Landon in the television show The Young and the Restless. He has also appeared in movies such as ‘American Soul’, ‘Beauty and the Beast’ and ‘The Walking Dead’ among others.
