In an effort to defend his client, who is in fact being investigated for obstruction of justice, one of former President Donald Trump’s countless lawyers has sought to frame the controversy over President Joe Biden’s confidential materials as an obstruction case.

Lawyer James Trusty criticized host Chuck Todd on Sunday’s episode of NBC’s Meet The Press for promoting the “Democratic narrative” that Trump ignored a demand to turn over confidential documents stored at Mar-a-Lago, which led to the FBI raid. Trusty argued that the Biden case presents a true “set of facts” pointing to obstruction because Biden should not have had access to the records in the first place.

“This China-funded Penn Biden Center has decades of documents that belong to their vice president, right?” It’s safe to say. (The Penn Biden Center said it had received no Chinese funding.) “You have a total obstruction there,” I said.

Trusty was unable to tell the difference between the different degrees of transparency in the Biden and Trump scenarios. Biden’s lawyers say they quickly alerted the National Archives and Records Administration after finding the documents at the Penn Biden Center in November, which they notified the Justice Department. They claimed that each subsequent batch of documents was submitted and resulted in a notice from the government.

Meanwhile, despite his lawyer’s assurances to NARA that Trump has turned everything over, it is claimed that he still keeps numerous boxes of various confidential documents at his Florida residence.

Todd tried to beg Trusty for a concession using that knowledge. When he found them, did he give them up? Todd questioned a distraught Trusty, who seemed to have little to talk about. Trusty changed the subject again, arguing that Trump has been unfairly “discriminated against” despite the fact that his alleged actions are radically different from those of other politicians dealing with their own documentary crises.
