Jamie Dornan Reveals He Once Kissed a Horse on a TV Set — Despite Being Highly Allergic: ‘My Lips Absolutely Blew Up’

Jamie Dornan recalls his very unfortunate close encounter with a horse.

While appearing on The Graham Norton Show on friday the irish actor (41) delighted the audience with a hilarious story about how he once kissed a horse on TV despite being “severely allergic” to animals.

“I like them as a species, I just can’t get close,” Dornan said, before explaining that he made the big mistake of locking lips with an ungulate despite previously getting into trouble with a horse during filming Maria Antoinette — his first acting role — in 2006.

“My character [Count Axel Fersen] he has to spend almost the entire film on a horse,” he recounted. “And I forgot that I hadn’t been around a horse for a long time.”

To prepare for the shoot, he underwent two weeks of horse riding training outside of Paris. “So I’m trotting around this place… and in the back, one of the runner’s faces just looked over [shocked],” he said of the crewman’s reaction to his appearance. “I was itchy, and my whole face became a giant hive.”

He continued, “I had to get EpiPens. Then they almost couldn’t secure me for the movie.”

In order to continue his work, he had to take medication whenever he was around horses. “So if you see me on a horse, I’m heavily medicated,” he joked.

Despite this extreme allergic reaction, Dornan went on to work with horses again in the 2012 historical drama. New worlds. It seems like Fifty shades of grey the actor developed quite an affinity for the horse assigned to him on the set of the show.

“I really liked the horse I had. And I thought, ‘This is the last day. You know what? I love this horse.’ So I kissed her on the lips,” he said, prompting Norton, 60, to jokingly interject, “What meds were you on?”

As the audience laughed, Dornan continued his story, “I said, ‘You know what, we’re almost done. I’ve got half a day left.’ The horse was wrapped in a picture. So I kissed him.”

Not surprisingly, the sweet moment didn’t end well for Dornan. – And then my lips got completely swollen – he said. “And we couldn’t film the rest of the day.”

Jamie Dornan admits he kissed a photo of love-struck Liv Tyler as a teenager ‘Every night before I went to bed’

Last year, Dornan made another surprising admission about the kiss. During the game “Never Have I Ever” with his Belfast Caitríona Balfe’s costar for the British Vogueadmitted that his celebrity crush is Liv Tyler — and that when he was a teenager, he fondled a photo of her “every night” before bed.

“I had a black and white picture of Liv Tyler next to my bed and I kissed her every night before I went to bed,” Dornan said in a guest appearance on The Kelly Clarkson Show.

“And when I was in New York, I met her, my friend knew and he said, ‘Jamie, did you tell Liv about that time?’ And I had to tell Liv Tyler to her face that I kissed her black and white picture every night.”

“She was so lovely about it. But it was humiliating for me,” he added.
