Jenn Tran shares how her Dancing with the stars partner Sasha Farber helped her get through the breakup Bachelor finalist Devin Strader.
While speaking exclusively with PEOPLE at the film’s Los Angeles premiere Wicked On Saturday, Nov. 9, Tran, 26, opened up about her close relationship with Farber, 39. Bachelor star says she and the dance pro have been protecting each other since she was eliminated in seventh place DTWS last week. She already misses their time together on the dance floor.
“Honestly, last week was really tough,” Tran says, referring to his elimination from the dance competition on Oct. 29. “It’s the first day after I woke up and said, ‘Today is the first day in seven weeks that I’m not going to dance a step,’ which is really sad when I was [on DWTS]. I really feel like it’s been the best few weeks of my life.”
“I really love dancing and I want to keep dancing, but when you grow up, it’s like, ‘What am I going to do? Take dance classes and then what?’ ” she continues. “But I’ll keep doing it because I think people should be able to do what makes them happy. I’ll still be taking dance lessons – and hopefully I’ll be back for the final and do a little dance or something with Sasha.”

According to Tran, Farber encouraged her to stay focused on what “really matters” and stay grounded when she was in the middle of so much online controversy.
“He kept reminding me that it’s the things that aren’t online that really matter, that it’s your friends and family who know you best that really matter,” Tran says of her dance partner.
“Right after the break [with Strader]I was going through a lot of things that were being said online and being said, and I just had to turn off the phone,” she continues, recalling the weeks after the controversial Bachelor the finale and some of the drama that followed.
“Sasha really helped ground me and told me that my friends and family are the ones who really matter at the end of the day and that everything is going to fail on social media and just keep working because at the end of the day, I only have myself. right?” she adds.
Tran and Strader broke up shortly after the proposal in Hawaii. During After the Final Rose special, the star told host Jesse Palmer about their relationship, “As soon as we left Hawaii, things were just different.”
“I felt like he was going back on all the promises he made to me — he wanted us to move somewhere together, he wanted to plan this future and he wanted to see each other all the time,” she said.
Tran explained during the show that Strader then called her after she hadn’t heard from him, and he told her he wanted to break off the engagement. They ended things over the phone.

Speaking with PEOPLE on Saturday, Tran also shared some of her top takeaways DWTS and her time with Farber.
“I’m someone who’s not detail-oriented at all. I’m very much like—I do whatever, I’m on my own timeline,” explains Tran. “And I think you have to be, with the music and the choreography and you count the music and all that stuff. So he really just helped me be a little more detail-oriented.”
“Also, he’s such an amazing boyfriend while I’ve been going through so much,” she adds. “Having such a good man and a good friend throughout the whole thing, I really feel like it’s been such a healing process for me.”
