Jamie Foxx ‘Humbled’ by NAACP Nominations and ‘Thankful’ for ‘Second Chance to Enjoy and Appreciate Life’

Jamie Foxx is feeling grateful.

On Friday, the 56-year-old actor shared an emotional post in reaction to the nominations he received for the 55th NAACP Image Awards, while also talking about getting a “second chance” at life in a candid moment on Instagram.

“I’m so grateful to the @naacpimageawards for these nominations,” Foxx said of his best actor nominations for BurialOutstanding Supporting Actor in a Motion Picture for They cloned Tyrone and outstanding independent film for Story Ave, which he is the producer of.

“I can’t tell you how great it feels to be recognized by our… and a big thank you @datariturner, your vision and your relentlessness to execute all our projects with supreme expertise and the execution was something to admire,” the actor continued.

Foxx said he was “humbled” by his NAACP actress nomination for ‘The Burial.’

Foxx then appeared to address the medical complication he suffered last April, writing, “And personally, I’m humbled and thankful to God that I’ve been given a second chance to enjoy and appreciate life… ❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️, ” referring to his sister Deidra Dixon and daughter Corinne Foxx, who he previously said “saved my life” through the ordeal.

Foxx’s latest announcement comes after he was spotted on set as he continued filming for the Netflix film Back in action with costar Cameron Diaz last week, after leaving the set mid-shoot following a medical emergency in April.

The actor began filming the action comedy in December 2022, as he was then seen filming various scenes with Diaz, 51, in London.

Foxx later suffered a “medical complication,” daughter Corinne, 29, announced in a post on April 12, 2023. The project was “shut down” on the same day of the announcement, PEOPLE confirmed at the time.

After last year’s health scare, the actor is said to be feeling “fantastic” and will continue filming until February, a source told PEOPLE last week.

“Jamie is indeed back on set and filming throughout February,” the insider said. “It looks and feels fantastic.”

In August, Foxx further opened up about his health battle, saying he’s “finally starting to feel like me” after an “unexpectedly dark journey” in a reflective post.

“You look at a man who is grateful… I’m finally starting to feel like myself… it’s been an unexpectedly dark journey… but I see the light,” he wrote alongside his photos. “You just don’t know how much it meant … I will thank you all personally … and if you didn’t know … GOD IS GOOD … all day every day … #swipeleft #imbackandimbetter #nobaddays.”
