Jason and Travis Kelce Say They ‘Feel Bad’ the Focus Is on Them Instead of Teammates When They Play Each Other

They may have become household names recently, but Jason and Travis Kelce make it clear that they don’t like to be the only ones in the spotlight when they play football with their NFL teams.

In a new bonus episode of their joint podcast, New Heights with Jason and Travis Kelce (Presented by Wave Sports + Entertainment), the two athletes discussed their teams’ upcoming matchup on Monday. The 2023 Super Bowl rematch will see Travis and the Kansas City Chiefs take on Jason and the Philadelphia Eagles at Arrowhead Stadium in Kansas City.

Despite the hype surrounding the game and the prospect of the brothers fighting alongside each other, the two stated during the bonus episode that they didn’t like having all the focus of the game on them.

“I feel bad because a lot of the game is about us and not so much about our teammates who are also playing the game,” Jason said. “I think that’s why from an outside perspective, I want to — it’s always a weird feeling when it’s a major part of the headline because there’s so many other guys out there with us playing as well.”

Travis answered shortly, agreeing with his brother saying “Hell yeah.”

Elsewhere in the bonus episode, Travis praised his brother and the Eagles.

“I just love competing against the best, man, and Big Play Slay, Byard … you’ve got some dogs, off the top line,” he said, praising the team’s roster.

“Hopefully we can beat the Chiefs for the first time in my entire career,” Jason joked in response — his four previous appearances against Kansas City, including the Super Bowl, ended in losses.

“I really don’t think of it as a Super Bowl rematch,” Travis commented. “I think of this as the Kansas City Chiefs vs. Philadelphia Eagles game in 2023. Both teams are different than they were last year, as similar as they are, it’s never the same. I think of it as — this doesn’t have much compared to what happened a year ago. Well, at this point I don’t even mean a year ago.”
