Jason Kelce remains focused on staying positive.

Speaking to PEOPLE about his Amazon Prime Video documentary, Kelce, The Philadelphia Eagles center, 35, says he and wife Kylie Kelce try to keep perspective when people criticize their parenting online.

“We’re all about positive energy. I think I’m used to people criticizing me, so I don’t respond as much. Kylie is a bit more defensive, especially when people attack my fathering skills,” Jason, who shares daughter Bennett Llewellyn, 6 months. Elliotte, 2, and Wyatt, 3, talk to PEOPLE with Kylie in this week’s issue.

“We’re just trying to have fun. Online, there’s a way to interact like never before because of social media and all these forms of fan engagement. We like to have fun with it.”

“We’d rather ignore the situation,” adds Kylie. “The same way people thought Jason’s labor TikTok was funny. It’s just making fun of the situation.”

“Did I think he should be standing by my bed, holding my hands and staring at me the whole time? Absolutely not,” she continues.

Laughing, Kylie adds. “If you can hear the sound of the tongs as he tries to take a really big bite, you can hear me saying, ‘Tell me about it. How’s it?’ Because I lived vicariously through him and tried all the pastries.”

“We find more energy in the idea of mocking it than taking it seriously and legitimately defending ourselves,” she concludes.

“And it could have been worse, she could have killed me,” jokes Jason.

Jason has shown that he makes time for his daughters no matter the time of year, he was spotted earlier this summer playing with the elderly couple on the field after training camp.

“@jason.kelce always stays up late after practice to play with his daughters 💚,” they captioned the video captured by CBS’ Jeff Kerr.

While most people found the moment endearing, several commentators suggested the center was just passively “playing fetch” with his daughters.

Kylie responded by reposting the video to her Instagram Story. “People in these comments are saying ‘Igra brings her kids like they’re dogs!'” she wrote.

“Just say you don’t have small children,” she continued. “If you listen, you can hear him counting. Technically, they’re racing.”
