Jason Kelce Has Lost 20 Lbs. Since NFL Retirement, Says He 'Already Feels Better'

Jason Kelce is taking some steps on his weight loss journey.

The former Philadelphia Eagles center recently spoke with GQ and revealed that he had lost almost 20 pounds. and counting. The 36-year-old said he weighs 295 lbs. for most of his pro football career, and he’s “looking forward to shedding some of those pounds” since retiring from the NFL.

“I don’t want to win also little. “I think a lot of guys, especially forwards, lose too much weight and then they look like idiots because their necks get so small, but their heads stay the same size,” he told the newspaper. “For me, for some reason, 250 to 260 feels like I’m still going to be big and be happy with the way I look without a six-pack. But I’ll be able to have that body for a little while longer.”

Kelce said he currently weighs about 277 lbs. after losing almost 20 lbs.

“It’s hard to imagine another almost 20 lbs. to be honest with you,” he admitted. “But my back is already better. My knees are already buckling better. So another 20 lbs. I hope to make it much more adept at playing with my kids.”

Kelce first said he wanted to lose weight after his 13-year career during an episode of his show in March New heights podcast with brother Travis Kelce. “I’m looking forward to getting skinny,” he said at the time.

During the show, Kelce responded to a fan who asked him if he would try to copy the weight loss journey of NFL legend Alan Faneca, who ran a marathon after his impressive transformation.

“Yeah, I won’t do it,” he said immediately. “I don’t know how Alan does it. I don’t run on the pavement. I’ve already tried that with a 5K, I’m not going to make a living doing it. My knees are already blown up enough.”

“But I will lose weight. My goal is 250 lbs,” he noted, adding, “I got down to about 285 last week because I knew I was doing it, and then I ate cake for three days straight.”

Kelce went on to admit that he will never be the type to completely cut out his favorite foods or stop enjoying the occasional drink.

“There are different ways to do it. I personally do not agree to extreme diets such as completely vegan or completely carnivorous or keto. F— no, I won’t do that,” he explained. “I downloaded MyFitnessPal and just started tracking calories. It seems to me that as long as I maintain my protein intake — so I maintain muscle — and just restrict calories, you’ll start to lose weight. So that’s the plan.”
