Jason Kelce Says He Still Wants to ‘Be Involved’ with the Eagles amid Retirement Rumors

  • Jason Kelce hasn’t announced his retirement from the NFL, but says he has a future with the Eagles, regardless
  • Travis Kelce’s older brother was there to support the tight end and the Kansas City Chiefs on Sunday as the team clinched a spot in the Super Bowl
  • Jason said Philadelphia Inquirer that the Eagles’ season was “incredibly disappointing,” but he’s looking forward to proving people wrong next year

Although his plans are still up in the air, Jason Kelce is certain of one thing: his continued involvement with the Philadelphia Eagles.

“I don’t know what’s going to happen with me, but I know that I still want to be involved in the organization and that I still want to be a part of it – regardless of the decision,” the Eagles center, 36, said Philadelphia Inquirer. “Because I don’t want to feel like I’m out there looking at these accomplishments and these accolades and these opportunities that pretty much represent entire cities and fan bases and organizations.”

He added: “It’s too good a feeling to pass up.”

With a decision on his own future as a player undecided, Kelce was there to absorb the accomplishments of his brother Travis Kelce on Sunday, when the tight end helped the Kansas City Chiefs earn a Super Bowl berth.

While on the court, Jason became emotional after hugging Travis. He also spoke to reporters about his brother’s achievement, helping the Chiefs return to the championship for the fourth time in six years.

“As a brother, I mean, listen, this team is easy to root for,” Jason said Inquirer. “This is a team whose roses did not bloom and it was the easiest path for them. They fought, overcame adversity, stayed together through all the nonsense. When everyone doubted them, when everyone said they didn’t have guys who could do it, they still go to the biggest game in the world because of football.”

And while Jason plans to support Travis and the Chiefs in Las Vegas on Feb. 11 — and play blackjack, he said — he’s relishing his own opportunity in the not-too-distant future when he can disprove the skeptics.

Travis Kelce says brother Jason ‘still has some football’ amid retirement speculation

“As a Philadelphia Eagle, an incredibly disappointing season, especially at the end,” Jason said of the team’s performance. “And I’m really, really looking forward to next year. I’m looking forward to trying to prove people wrong, especially with some of the recent hires and Nick Sirianni. And a lot of things are up in the air for the Philadelphia Eagles.”

He added, “But I think as a player, you always look forward to going into battle with your guys.”
