Jason Mraz celebrates his former collaborator, Taylor Swift, ahead of the upcoming Dancing with the stars episode.
The “I’m Yours” singer, who performed with Swift, 33, early in her career, shares exclusively with PEOPLE what it’s like watching her career evolve ahead of the Swift-themed episode on Nov. 21.
“You want to see any artist do well, especially an artist you may have met at some point,” says Mraz, 46. “It’s been amazing to watch her career grow from singer-songwriter to global phenomenon.”
Mraz adds: “I’m sure it’s a great honor for her to see her music featured in this show.” And I’m tickled to be on the show dancing to all this music.”

The official Instagram account for the competition series hinted that Mraz and dancer Daniella Karagach will perform an Argentine tango for their Swift-inspired dance.
Swift week is not the only favorite of Mraz DWTS night. “I liked Motown night and I loved music video night. I also loved the most memorable year,” he tells PEOPLE. “There were so many good ones.”
As Mraz and Karagach, 30, approach the end of the competition – which ends on December 5 – Mraz admits he sometimes feels “tired of the daily grind”.

“It’s become a day job and it’s something I never thought I’d have. So I know my partner is frustrated with me because of that,” says Mraz.
Karagač then rejects Mraz’s statement. “That’s not true,” she admits. “I just think we’re so exhausted mentally, physically.”
She also shares and celebrates their success in reaching the top six. “We’re still here, which is amazing,” says Karagach.

Mraz tells PEOPLE how the Season 32 contestants have become like family — despite competing against each other. “I love Harry [Jowsey]. I love Barry [Williams]. I love Allison [Hannigan]. It’s less competition here and we really cheer each other on.”
“You don’t want to see the elimination part,” the singer admits. “I wish we didn’t have to do that. You want to see everyone do well and we’re always surprised when someone leaves.”
