Jay Bloom’s career

The first step in Jay Bloom’s business career was the founding of Pet Assure Inc. He co-founded a pet business with Carolyn Farkas, according to Inc. He previously worked for Manufacturers Hanover Corporation, a bank. He earned his helicopter pilot’s license and purchased his first helicopter after generating substantial income from his first venture.

He intended to use it to the fullest and trade it, unlike most rich people. He ended up purchasing seven helicopters in less than a year. He later attended a flight school from which he previously obtained a pilot’s license.

Additionally, the Federal Aviation Administration granted the school a Part 135 certificate, which gives it authority to operate a charter aircraft.

His conversation with the late OceanGate CEO Stockton Rush recently went viral online. Jay said in a Facebook post that the CEO asked him to dive at the Titanic crash site, but he refused out of fear for his safety. Although the late CEO insisted that he was safer than flying a helicopter, Bloom was not convinced. Shahzada Dawood and her son Suleman Dawood later took the seats.

News about Jay Bloom

Stockton Rush spent a year trying to convince Las Vegas financier Jay Bloom to buy a few seats on his company’s submarine so Bloom and his son could enjoy the once-in-a-lifetime thrill of exploring the deep sea after the Titanic disaster.

In an interview on Friday, Bloom said he was fascinated. His son Sean, now 20, grew up fascinated by the story of the tragic British passenger liner. However, the more Bloom studied the Titan submarine, the more he worried about her safety. He said scheduling issues prevented him from gracefully turning down a last-minute opportunity to join the final outing of the season.

Instead, according to Bloom, the two vacant seats on the ship were filled by Pakistani-born businessman Shahzada Dawood and his son Suleman, who died last week along with Rush and two others when the Titan exploded in the depths of the Atlantic Ocean.

The tragedy served as a reminder of what is truly important in the life of Bloom, who lost a close friend, actor Treat Williams, in a motorcycle accident just over two weeks earlier.

“Every time I see a picture of that Pakistani businessman and his 19-year-old son, I think how easily me and my 20-year-old son could have been, by the grace of God,” Bloom said.

On Thursday, Bloom shared on Facebook a series of text exchanges from earlier this year between himself and Rush in response to the US Coast Guard’s announcement that it had discovered the remains of Titan on the ocean floor. In the lyrics, Rush disputed Bloom’s claims that the trip was risky. Rush stated in a letter that while there was a risk, it was much safer than flying in a helicopter or even diving and that no one had been injured on a civilian submarine in 35 years.

Bloom, a licensed private helicopter pilot, was not swayed. He was particularly concerned with the Titan’s innovative carbon-fiber hull and Stockton’s use of consumer-grade components, including the video game joystick used to control the ship. He too was “terrified” by the idea that passengers would not be able to open the Titan from the inside, even in an emergency. He said: “The more I knew about what was going on with the Stockton operation, the more it worried me.”

Rush was “very aware” of the risks associated with exploring the deep ocean, according to Guillermo Schnlein, who co-founded OceanGate with Rush in 2009. Schnlein also described Rush as “very risk-averse.”
