In 2016, actor Jay Mohr filed for divorce from his wife Nikki Cox twice in less than six months. After nine years of marriage, he filed for divorce for the first time in July 2016 due to irreconcilable differences in paperwork. According to People, the couple had a prenuptial agreement that included spousal support provisions. But the actor called it quits just six days after filing divorce papers. “We’re extremely married, very much in love, and that’s about it,” the actor told People after asking to have his earlier plea dismissed. Mohr’s decision to withdraw his divorce petition didn’t last long, as he reportedly filed for divorce from his wife a second time in December 2016. Like the last time, he stated in the filing that the two were divorcing due to irreconcilable differences.

Mohr said his ex-wife, Cox, also struggled with financial and mental health issues in the months after she filed for divorce for the second time. In doing so, the former Saturday Night Live cast member requested sole physical custody of their son, Meredith Daniel Cox Mohr, whom they welcomed in 2011. He also requested shared legal custody, with Cox granted “appropriate visitation with Meredith, which he will closely supervise.” The actor also claimed in the new filing that he and his ex-wife “continued to live in the same house” with their child despite filing divorce papers in December.
However, he said that their “living situation has become incredibly complex and unbearable; therefore, our youth suffers.” According to the filings, “I had no choice but to secure another placement for myself and our child due to the escalating hostility in our home, Nikki’s continued reluctance to address her mental health issues … her substance abuse and her inability to respect boundaries. “

Mohr said in court filings filed in March 2017 that Cox repeatedly begged him to drive her to the Universal Hilton, a hotel in Los Angeles, so she could get married. In addition, the actor’s ex-wife, a well-known actress, allegedly came in the middle of the night to the guest bedroom where the actor was staying while the couple was separated and tried to “seduce” him. She even informed him that she thought she was pregnant with another child, which was not true.
“Nikki informed me in January (2017) that she believed she was pregnant. Being azoospermic, this discovery indicates that either a miracle happened, Nikki was pregnant by another guy, or she was lying. “She assured me it was mine,” the actor said in a statement. Meanwhile, she made terrible motherly judgments and was less concerned about the couple’s child. Despite living in the same house, she allegedly did not spend many days with her child. Ultimately, Mohr’s petition was granted in August 2018 after some divorce filings and allegations against Cox. Their agreement, however, was kept secret.
