Jayant’s investigation and hunt for Telji

Jayant Tinaikar soon discovered key clues about Abdul Karim Telgi. According to Jayant, he learned that Telgi’s brothers were sending a group of 50 to 100 people to Ajmer under the guise of pilgrimage, where they were to meet Abdul Karim. After discovering this, Jayant shared this information with a team of 3 to 4 people he hired to gather more information. In October 2001, Jayant revealed to Bangalore Police Commissioner HT Sangliana that Telgi was expected to visit Ajmer. He urged Sanlyana to send his team to arrest Terji. Sanlyana immediately conveyed this information to GA Bawa, Assistant Commissioner of Police, Bengaluru. After receiving the news, Bawa and his team went to Ajmer on a search mission in the name of Pathans. According to GA Bawa, after seven days of searching, police finally found Telgi at the Ajmer Sharif Dargah; Bawa recognized Telgi when he observed someone kissing the Dargah, which matched the photo of Telgi he had seen Strikingly similar. After identifying the man as Telji, they discreetly arrested him and launched a thorough investigation. On November 7, 2001, Bangalore police arrested Telji from Ajmer. Bawa recalled in the documentary “Money Mafia” how Telji desperately pleaded during his arrest and even offered a large sum of money in exchange for his release. According to police officials, following Telji’s arrest, hundreds of people involved in the scam were arrested and properties worth more than Rs 4,000 crore were seized.
